I walked on the concrete to my garden – I saw this pattern, I stopped, I wondered, to me it was a mystery! Do you wonder? Now I got an idea to the solution to this mystery of nature!A closer look at the source of the track – a slug of some kind! Now the first question. What is beauty? Wonder about it – Does his Mother think he is beautiful?I painted this rose with PhotoShop from a photo. Among all flowers – roses are special to me – I grew up with antique roses blooming from stock said to have been planted by my Great Great Grandfather. I now have three new bushes that survive winters with day after day never reaching above zero. 100 years from now they may be called Jim’s antique roses? So I thought I would post a fun quote from a first lady: Eleanor Roosevelt said ” I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.”
See you later! Did a long trail ride today – proving that horses are “ATV’s”
I think a storm is going to hit my windshield. — But that is good. – “My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky;” By Henry W. LongfellowIs that not beautiful? WOW!!! I love it.After the rain cloud – I love the sun too! Do you?
Michigan UP – Route 134, just East of the city of Detour (East of the Island of Drummond). Thru my windshield, I looked up – sensed an approaching storm – I saw a cloud ghost in the sky & the beginning of a rainbow forming over the road. “Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.” ― Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My GardenWe are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. Dale Carnegie “You have the nicest window, you know? None of the others can even compete. ”― Banana Yoshimoto, The Lake
“The most interesting thing was looking out the window and taking photographs of different places on Earth.” Leroy Chiao quotes
Hey – We head off to the big city – Ann Arbor to visit a friend, -maybe we will sit on a park bench, or I may sit with our friends dogs and watch out the window – Camera in hand – i will plan on feeding a pigeon or two!

Our rhubarb and chard garden plot on June 20, 2014In just three weeks – look what God, a little sunshine, a little rain -oh yes a little horse manure did!
After the harvest – ready for our table!
No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden. By – Thomas Jefferson
Now I have been studying how to compose an image. I like the next one better! Fist the eye must know where to look even in a busy photo. I focus on the wood lily. Then, since we read right to left and down, your eye should follow that path – and back around to the beginning – to the rock then back around thru the foreground to the wood lily. Generally lines should be in diagonal – not vertical and horizontal — I think they are from top left to lower right! What fun to study. This is not a serious photo – It is just me playing with PhotoShop. Why did I play. Well maybe I remember what Oliver Wendell Holmes said: “Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing”
Since I did one of these yesterday my body is a little tight, so ………My golf game today may go like this – Well, on this league we truly play golf… you know, be sure to get the beer out of the pick-up before the golf bags – priority sequence! So, no one really gets mad like this!
This pie was baked by a very good friend for our BBQ outing at another friends home – Beautiful home on the Bay, and a great hosts – even down to the point of finding the type of beer I often drink and making sure it was provided. – And many more “hostly” thoughts went into their preparation for our all american event – Friends, Hamburgers, Salads, Beer, and Blueberry pie with ice cream!!!!There is a horse behind the buggy – but that is not important – the important part of this photo is what I see — I see a very generous friend providing the opportunity to ride in the parade – Oh, it takes more then just an opportunity – it takes someone to be the mentor – the teacher – the one who gives the skill and confidence to the young lady to ride a big horse in the parade. So, this photo records the smile of Lives Enriched by my friend. – his and the young lady – and of course mine – well, I am not in the photo but I was there – behind the camera. This photo means something to me – why – She and i laughed together — You see, she snuck up on me and too a close-up of my face. As, she was getting ready to show me, I snuck up and took this shot — We laughed! The host is missing in this photo – why – she was busy making sure we were all taken care of but you can tell we were all relaxed – enjoying each other. Later, I want to show you photos of the hosts and their home – wonderful day but for now I will focus on the lower left corner of the photo. We are focused on the retired Professor – explaining about an on-line course he is taking – “Einstein’s Theory of Relativity” and the joy of being busy in retirement – without the pressure of having to get a high grade in the course.
I took this photograph to tell a simple story and convey a feeling. The Tranquility of an Evening on the Lake.” It is a photograph of three sizes of boats – Freighter, bow-rider, and canoe. The implied three lake depths give a uniqueness to the boats and the reddish sky adds a tranquil feeling evening. The boats on a curved line of sight give direction to the eye to see a tranquil view of nature, in the reddish sky, green forest, and three lake depths. So, say I, nature and man-made objects work as a team to tell the story of tranquility by my home on the lake. – Now you have my thoughts – “THEY WORK TOGETHER”I maintain a site called tgophoto.wordpress.com and a Facebook page at TGO PHOTO CLUB sometimes they are the same as jimsdaily and sometimes they are different — do not hesitate to check them out!
