Boy, are we in Florida feeling like our activity must stop.  I have heard so many say — we have to play golf today because tomorrow and Wednesday will be too cold — we will have to stay in or go shopping at the mall — why,  it will not get above the hi 50’s or low 60’s. Then I looked at our Michigan home forecast — 6-12 inches of snow over icy roads with a hi of 28.  We are wimps here in Florida — and I love it — but I really miss a few days in the cold snow, but, here I am.

That leads me to control — can’t control weather — not sure I control anything  — but I think about why might I want to control??? — To please me??? To please someone else??

Bet it has to do with fear that someone else will react to my actions — thus I seek to control things just to please them and get only positive reactions from them.  Do you think they control me that way – or do I control them by dong things to please them —  complicated — I have no answer.  Just thinking.

More thinking — What is real?? Just last week I listened to a friend of mine express his philosophy on photography — He was saying things are not the way they were when he used only film in his career.  Says he, “My photos were of real life.  Now days you do not know if anything you see in magazines is real.  They digitally remove wrinkles, pimples, spots on ties (People do not wear ties anymore — well maybe the Presidents and Preachers do — or did the editor digitally put a tie on them?)” — well any way I told my friend “You film people did change the Apreture to make sure that certain young ladies were not visible in the background when the President was vacationing.  That was not real — was it?  — or was it?

So why did I say all that to you?  — Because, I want to say –THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH USING THE COMPUTER TO FIX OR CHANGE A PHOTOGRAPH IF YOU DID NOT GET IT THE WAY YOU WANTED IT WHEN YOU SNAPPED THE SHUTTER.

You already used a computer inside the camera  — once you set the Aperture, the computer changed the changed the shutter speed, most likely stopped any shake in your hand, balanced the light , and maybe even made some decisions about RGB (Red, Green, Blue).  Your camera computer balances and integrates those three colors to give you the beautiful color in you photo — bet you did not know you had such a smart computer in your camera!

Think I will get ready for the class I need to teach at the photo club meeting on Friday  – I want to show you a flower Florida photo that I took, last week, for the class and what I did with it on the computer — because that leads me to what is real these days?

I will show you an example of what you can do — after the fact — with your computer, — if you left the Aperture(f number) larger then you wanted, or stood too far back, or did not tilt the camera as you wanted: (Click photo to enlarge — click return arrow to return)

Here is my original photo: (Click to enlarge):

Via computer – background blur (Aperture), crop (Got closer), and rotate (Tilted camera):

Not saying computer generated photo is good but I like it — is it real ??? does it mater??? was it easy to do –Yes.

See Ya — more Daily stuff tomorrow — I hope
