1. The homestead IMG_1874 In 1903 Grandpa wrote – I assume from the house in the background – these words : “Jan 1, Weather clear, a little snow but pretty good sledding. Went to Hiram Weavers and Windber in forenoon. Bought shoes for $1.60, Medicine for $2.75, and nuts for 5 cents.  Afternoon Ed and I went to make saw logs but broke saw. Paul and Florence have very bad cold and Ellen the head ache. Bought 15 bucket coal from A. Berkeys. Paid 60 cents. Sent for medicine (cents) 30 for children. No School . Holiday. Ellen made Paul’s first suit.”

Note: Some time between 1900 and 1903 the farm in the background was built — I think Grandma, Grandpa, ad their two baby children Paul and Florence moved into the house in late 1902. Grandpa was the school teacher in the one room school house just beyond the farm in the back ground.  Ed, was Grandpa’s brother who lived in the farm in the foreground where my Great Grandfather built that farm along with his father (My Great Great Grandfather)  in the early 1800’s. That is the farm in which I was born and grew up in  & which we owned until the year 2000.

2. Mobile Art:  Yesterday Grandma and I went to the big city – Orlando – so that she could get some of her art work digitally scanned for use in prints to sell, mug to decorate, and note pads to enjoy.  Maybe tomorrow I can get a digital copy from her — so come back to this blog tomorrow.

As you travel about today – look for interesting art pieces yourself – on people, in the sky, on the truck bodies, on rail cars, in the bushes — there is a lot of art out there!!!

Question — is art the rendition of what is in our eyes/mind or is the art the reality that our eyes see and our mind visions?  Let me know what you think!

Your Grandpa is never bashful about asking young (or old) ladies about the art work on their bodies  — I will show you tomorrow one BIG surprise this little old country boy got from the manager of a very fine mens store in the big city- so be sure to come back to this blog tomorrow

Train – I love to be stopped at a rail crossing to see the art gallery go by.

A message for the world? or just for fun? or practice piece?

Truck – I love this one — a dirty truck, a dock worker with a talent for art and an interest in a figure – maybe the Hulk – do you know?  The artist most likely has a dirty finger.

WOW - Is this a great canvas or what?

3. TGO Doggies: Yesterday at a big city restaurant, at the table next to us, a lady was holding a small dog in her lap and it was wearing a “Service Dog” vest. I feel sure the lady most likely had a fear of being out and about — the dog was her companion and thus helped her enjoy the lunch time with friends and family.

We retired folks love our doggies too. We even have a world for them — and we give them full use of our golf carts:I think all TGO dogs are service dog — they are at our service – giving the special bond that only a dog can do — dogs are are tamable – horses on the other hand are not really tamable

–in the last 15 months I have really learned how to appreciate the companionship of a horse (Perla) — It is very valuable to me to enjoy a horse in my retirement life — but the horse does not offer the kind of companionship of a trainable dog (Dyna). more on all that later —

anyway, You can not take a service horse into the restaurant and hold it in your lap  – well, maybe you could in Texas!  –Thanks Heather for the article on Horse Sense from Opra.com
